Since 2013, Zach Savich has taught in the BFA Program for Creative Writing at the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia. His courses include Introduction to Contemporary Poetry, a year-long course for first year creative writing majors; Poetry and Poetics, a literature course on US poetry since 1950; Contemporary Poetry: The Form of the Book; Writing and Collaboration; and poetry workshops for majors and non-majors. His teaching is guided by the belief that creative writing offers a mode of inquiry that can consequentially advance collective thinking about literature, education, politics, and the arts. He has previously held visiting and full-time positions with Shippensburg University, the University of Iowa, the University of Washington's Creative Writing Seminar in Rome, and Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand.
Savich has also worked extensively in community and K-12 settings, as well as offering private manuscript consultations.
